Poem about Primary school life

The sounds of my friends' laughter
as we go out to play
The sound of my teacher's voice
ringing in my ears all day

The smell of the food in the canteen
I'll never forget
The look on a boy's face
as his pants get wet

My CCA is the most interesting
With a lot of large fatties
My friends and I would laugh at them
sometimes making them cry for their Mummies

The exams are the worst
with the fun all gone
we get so unhappy
like a dog who has lost his bone

Figurative language analysis of poem

Still I Rise by Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.    This uses a simile to show the people's morale dropping
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds         A simile is used here to show how the writer dances
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wideA metaphor is used to show the power of the writer
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

I like this poem as there are many interesting words used by the writer. The writer being straightforward regardless of the words he uses, also appeals to me. There are many similes that seem funny to me, and that is also a contributing factor to my liking of this poem too. The length of the poem is not too long or too short, just to my liking. The resilience of the writer reflected in the poem is another thing that I like too. All in all, this poem is one of the most interesting one I have seen, even though I have not seen many poems before.
